5 Ways to Help Protect Your Skin in the Kitchen

5 Ways to Help Protect Your Skin in the Kitchen

26th Jun 2018

While many of us enjoy spending time in the kitchen, it only takes one slip of the knife or forgetting the stove top is still scalding hot to damage your skin. Properly protecting your skin while cooking will not only save you from short-term pain, but also help keep your skin healthy in the long run. Oven mitts are a great start, but they aren’t the only solution! TriDerma has five simple tips on how to help protect your skin in the kitchen.

1. Watch Out For Steam
Hot pans and boiling water aren’t the only causes of burns. Steam from pots and microwaved foods can burn your skin just as easily! When lifting a cover off a boiling pot, make sure to pull the cover toward you so the steam doesn’t burn your hand. When opening or removing a seal from a microwaved package, do it away from your face to avoid burns and skin irritation.

2. Keep a First Aid Kit

Having a first aid kit in the kitchen makes it easy to treat cuts and burns on the spot while cooking. TriDerma’s Kitchen 911 is made with natural ingredients and is a cruelty-free cream containing our AP4 Organic Aloe Complex that provides more than 200 healing properties to help reduce swelling, fight bacteria, and soothe pain caused by cuts and burns. It’s an essential member of your first aid kit!

3. Stir Away From Your Body
Have you ever burned yourself with boiling water while stirring pasta? How you stir boiling water can cause it to bubble up or splash, leading to painful burns. You can reduce your chances of this by stirring the water away from yourself. Using a slotted spoon can also prevent water from splashing and burning your skin.

4. Moisturize Your Skin

Constant hand washing can lead to dry, cracked hands. Having a good moisturizer is important to rejuvenate your skin. TriDerma’s Extreme Moisturizing Balm is a great way to quickly improve dry and damaged skin. Its non-greasy formula fights against dryness caused by long hours in the kitchen, leaving skin feeling silky soft.

5. Keep Your Oven Mitts Dry
While oven mitts are a great way to prevent burns, wet oven mitts don’t provide the same protection. The wet cloth can transmit heat and easily cause burns through the material. If your oven mitts get wet, make sure to wait until they dry before using them again.

With all of the accidents that can happen in the kitchen, it’s important to be prepared and properly protect your skin. For more skincare tips and products, check out TriDerma online at triderma.com or give us a call at (800) 279-7282.
