How Much Is The Sun Aging Your Skin?

How Much Is The Sun Aging Your Skin?

24th May 2018

Fine lines, crow’s feet, dark spots and wrinkles. Whatever you call your skin impurities, we know them as signs of aging. Have you ever wondered why your skin is looking aged, other than your age itself? Damage from the sun’s UV rays can cause your skin to age prematurely. Unfortunately this summer, The World Health Organization says that sun exposure can cause up to 80 to 90 percent of visible aging to your skin. Whether it’s a hot day or a gloomy day, UV rays penetrate the skin. You can help protect your skin from aging and other sun damage with some simple tips from TriDerma.

Wear sunscreen daily.

Not to be obvious, but we had to say it! The number one way to shield your skin from the sun is to wear sunscreen daily. Liberally apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15, at minimum. We recommend finding a daily moisturizer with SPF and applying it before putting on makeup. For those long pool or beach days, re-apply sunscreen every two to three hours.

Stay away from tanning beds.

News flash: tanning beds emit the same UV rays that come from the sun. Choose a spray tan or home bronzer instead.

Understand the sun’s UV Index.

Did you know that you can look up the sun’s daily UV Index, just like looking up the temperature? The UV Index is a daily meter of how much radiation is expected to reach the earth from the sun. In other words, it tells you how strong and harmful the sun may be on any given day! 1 to 2 is considered low, and anything over 8 is very high. If you see a high number, you may be overexposed to UV rays.

Invest in a sunhat and/or protective accessories.

A sunhat can shield you from aging! Invest in a cute brimmed hat this summer to shield your face from damaging sun rays. Worried about crow’s feet? Wear your sunglasses to avoid squinting in the sun, which can cause fine lines around the eyes.

Treat and care for your skin post-sun.

Post-sun skin care is important, too! Aloe Vera is an all-natural ingredient that does wonders for sun-kissed skin. Apply TriDerma’s All Clear™ Aloe Gel as a soothing and hydrating mask following prolonged sun exposure. For sunburns, try our Intense Fast Healing® Cream. This highly concentrated cream combines our powerful AP4® Organic Aloe Complex, vitamins and essential botanicals to help heal skin.

Enjoy your fun in the sun this summer, but keep in mind the harmful effects it has on your skin. For more skin tips and healing products, check out TriDerma online at triderma.com or give us a call at (800) 279-7282.
